Old age is a gift from God. Many aspire to get old but it is God that really determines in the long run whom He chooses to help out. The Bible says many are the affliction of the righteous but the Lord sees them through all.
Why do we neglect the welfare of our old parents. Can economic problems really be sufficient for not doing our responsibility towards them? Afterall we still manage to take 'good' care of our immediate family. No matter how little we must constantly remember them, because they contributed in no small ways in making us what we are. A nation which neglects the old ones neglects God. The reason for the negative condition we find ourselves today may not be far from our non-chalant attitude towards them, individually and as a nation.
We cannot claim to be a good christian or good muslims if we do not take good care of our parents. Sending gifts and money is not just enough. We must find quality time to visit them and play with them. They always desire to see us. Forget about the pranks some of them plays sometimes, its all about old age. And you too will soon be there.
We must not only take care of our own aged ones but we must have elderly ones around us as friends. In doing this we would be able to learn from their experiences and in return strenghten their weaknesses.
How often do you see ur parents, call on phones, send gifts to them? How do u show that you really love them. What are the funny things ur aged ones do, and how do you cope with them? Let's share our experiences. I pray we would all advance in age....
