Advice for Sellers

Do not transfer the vehicle title to the buyer until you have received full payment for your vehicle. If payment was made by a check, make sure you get a confirmation from the bank that the check has cleared before releasing the car to the buyer.
Sell your car to local buyers and avoid buyers that only want to communicate via email and do not want to talk on the phone. The safest way is to ask the buyer to meet you at your car lot so you can deal in person and face to face. Exercise more caution if the buyer resides overseas and avoid any deal that involve complicated payment schemes.
If the buyer request for escrow service, then use only legitimate and reliable escrow service that you have used in the past. A good escrow service is Escrow.com. Be wary of other Escrow service on the internet. Some of them are fraudulent and you may never get your money.
Be cautious when showing or test driving your car with buyers. We have heard stories of how Armed robbers pose as car buyers either steal the car or kidnap the car owner

Advice for Buyers

If the car price is too good to be true, then it probably is. If popular sedans like Honda Accord or Toyota Camry is listed half price than it’s normally worth, it may a lure to scam you of your money. If buying from a USA based dealer, you can use the Kelly Blue Book Used Car Value system to see average price of similar vehicle before establishing communication with the seller
Be careful if the only payment option provided by seller is Western Union or Moneygram especially if buying from overseas dealers. Most Internet scam artist use these payment gateways because the funds you send are instantly available and in most cases, the transactions cannot be traceable to the scammer. Do not make any upfront payment until you are completely satisfied that the transaction is valid. We recommend that you use the service of an escrow service like Escrow.com to protect yourself and your hard earned money.
Buy locally from dealers that are well known in your area, and have a physical business address. Ensure to pay a visit to the car lot and ensure it is not someone else posing as the car owner. Inspect the car and if possible, have your mechanic inspect the car before making any payment. Be wary of sellers that only want to communicate thru email and avoid all discussion on the phone. They may be trying to conceal their identity.
Be extra careful when buying cars with “for sale” sign and the car is parked along the express road. Except the cars are packed in a car lot, be very careful because it might be a stolen car.
Request for the car’s title and avoid any promise from sellers that they will mail you the title later. Remember to match vehicle’s vehicle identification number with that on the car title. If it does not match, it may be an indication of fraud. If buying from overseas, we highly recommend that you purchase a vehicle history report like the one sold by Carfax.com
We heard the some sellers send virus to your computer when they send you photos or document to review. These viruses may destroy your computer or send you to sites controlled by the scammer and fool you into thinking that you are dealing with a legitimate website. Ensure you have updated antivirus software before opening any attachment from sellers.
Request for the car duplicate key. If the car does not come with a duplicate key, consider installing thief resistant protective device or replace the key system entirely. Some sellers use the duplicate key to steal cars from unsuspecting buyers.

Millions of Car Accidents occur worldwide every year, and the fatalities due to these accidents are also in the millions. Most of the time, it is somehow the driver who is responsible for the accident.

According to a Traffic Report by the WHO, road accidents kill more than 1.2 million people annually, and around fifty million people get injured or disabled. These numbers are increasing with the passage of years. Out of over 1.2 million worldwide, 90of the deaths are caused in the countries that have low or middle level incomes. Globally, more than half of the total accidents that occur are with drivers between the age of 15 and 44 years, and the drivers in more than 73of cases are males.

In the UK, the number of accidents has considerably decreased in percentage over the past four or five years. Recent reports show that the road accidents have decreased by one to two percent since the year 2006.

According to an estimate, the number of accidents every year in the US is more than six million. These accidents injure millions, while thousands of people are killed. The number of people killed in car accidents in the US is thirteen times that killed in the UK. However, this difference is not very dramatic as the US is 40 times the size of UK.

In the EU, the country with the highest number of Car accidents and fatalities is Italy followed by Poland. The UK also has a relatively high rate as compared to other EU countries. Around ten thousand car accidents occur in the UK each day, and most of these are the result of a mistake on the driver\’s part. Car accidents comprise more than 52of the total accidents in the EU.

Out of the total accidents in the EU, 67are in the urban areas and in 75of the total accidents, the driver is male. Young drivers between age 18 and 25 are involved in more than 21of the total accidents and fatalities. Research shows that most of the accidents occur due to reckless driving and intoxication. Other than this, there are large numbers of rollover accidents involving young adults and teenage drivers. The number of accidents due to intoxication is also increasing continuously. In the US, about 70 to 80 people die every day due to accidents related to alcohol.

In accidents in the EU and US, most the cars are insured, and Car Accident Compensation Claims can be made along with any Car Accident Injury claims. However, there are many countries where there is no insurance, and hence Car accident claims cannot be made. This is especially true for the low and medium income countries of Africa and Asia where accidents are in large percentages, and Car Accident Compensation Claims and Car Accident Injury Claims are not usually made.

care tips for your new car

Be patient during the break-in period

You’ve bought your dream car and now you want to make it last at long as possible in top condition. Here are some things to remember as you pull it out of the dealer’s lot:

During the break-in period, typically the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km), keep your speed under 55 mph (88 kpm) or to the speed recommended by your car’s manufacturer.
Avoid heavy loads on the drive train, such as towing trailers, and loading the roof rack or trunk with heavy construction materials.
Do not allow your new car to idle for long periods — this is good advice for the life of your car, but especially during breakin. The oil pressure generated by doing so may not be sending oil to every part of your engine.
Use only light to medium acceleration, keeping the engine rpms below 3,000 for the first few hours of driving.

Drive with care everyday

Being car considerate shouldn’t stop after the break-in. Drive with care every day and your car will reward you with longer intervals without repair.

Do not race your car’s engine during start-up.This is a quick way to add years of wear to your engine, especially if it’s cold outside.
Accelerate slowly when you begin your drive. The most wear to the engine and drive train occurs in the first ten to twenty minutes of operation.
Warming the engine by letting it idle in the driveway is not a smart idea. The engine doesn’t operate at its peak temperature, resulting in incomplete fuel combustion, soot deposits on cylinder walls, oil contamination, and ultimately damaged components.
Put less strain on your engine and automatic transmission by shifting to neutral at red lights. Otherwise, the engine is still working to push the car even while it’s stopped.
Avoid driving at high speeds and accelerating quickly, especially when it’s very hot or very cold outside. Such driving behavior will result in more frequent repairs.
Extend the life of your tires with careful driving. Observe posted speed limits. Avoid fast starts, stops, and turns. Avoid potholes and objects on the road. Don’t run over curbs or hit the tire against the curb when parking. And, of course, don’t burn rubber.
When turning your steering wheel, don’t hold it in an extreme right or left position for more than a few seconds. Doing so can damage the power-steering pump.
Consolidate your short driving trips. Most of the wear and tear — as well as the pollution your car generates — takes place in the first few minutes of driving. Doing several errands at once, during low traffic hours if possible, will keep your engine happier longer.
