Congratulations to all the artists and we look forward to an even BIGGER 2013.

1. Iyanya – Kukere

Kukere is undeniably the #1 song of 2012. Iyanya delivered a monster, national hit which is now travelling outside the country and continent. Whenever this song came on you were filled with joy and demonstrated it by either attempting to do the Etighi dance or passionately reciting the entire song from start to finish. Big Congratulations to Iyanya.

2. 2face – Ihe Neme

Ihe Neme was probably the most catchy track off 2face’s Away & Beyond album which he dropped in 2012. Surprised to see it at number 2 but, it is a very enjoyable track and the visuals also made the song sound better.

3. Davido – Dami Duro

Davido dominated most of 2012 as a brand and his Dami Duro hit single which also had a killer video shot him to the top in 2012. Dami Duro as you know is popular across the Nigeria and also the African continent which is why he won the Kora Award for Best Newcomer Award in the African continent.

4. D’banj – Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist is the reason Eja Nla was able to make all those BIG moves in 2012. This International Hit charted across Europe and even got D’banj an endorsement deal from Malibu Rum.

5. Burna Boy – Like To Party

Burna Boy’s Like To Party brought a different vibe to Naija music in 2012 and it was fully embraced. The western influenced production and local, but skillfully delivered lyrics made the song extremely catchy among music consumers and party folks.

6. May D – Ile Ijo

Mr May D showed his hand by delivering a number of hits in 2012, but Ile Ijo appears to be the what most people fell in love with the most in 2012.

7. Brymo – Ara (Wonders)

Chocolate City recording artist Brymo aka SonofaKapenta dropped Ara earlier in 2012 and shot an exceptional video for it. It quickly became a favorite on radio for a period of time in 2012.

8. EME ft. Wizkid, Banky W & Skales – Baddest Boy

As you know, EME is currently the most relevant team in the Nigerian music industry and when they drop a single, everyone listens. Baddest Boy was the first single off the EME compilation album and you know every Naija music lover had to fall in love especially because it was a solid single.

9. Chuddy K – Gaga Crazy

Chuddy K dominated the airwaves and clubs in 2012. Every DJ played this song at least twice every Friday and Saturday night for the most part in 2012. The video was also exceptional and innovative (concept wise) for Nigeria.

10. Naeto C ft D’banj – Tony Montana (Remix)

Super C had a hit with Tony Montana, but when the remix dropped in 2012 it was even hotter with the help of a modified beat and assistance of the Koko master. Naeto C continues to stay relevant as a rapper and exceptional song writer.

Wizzy’s Dance for Me was sonically different from a lot we heard in 2012, but became a favorite among many who initially go their hands on the EME allstar album.

After the success of his overwhelming hit Oleku in 2011, Ice Prince went back into the lab and cooked up Aboki for the party goers and commercial music lovers. It was immediately accepted and it spread fast.
