Scammers Are Invading The Auto Section...Again by BizBooks(m): 9:34am On Jan 21, 2013
In the past, we have seen scammers listing cars at outrageously low prices eg a tokunbo 2008
Camry for 800,000. When you ask why the price is so low, they will tell you it is a car
seized by Customs hence the low price. Others will tell you that the car is in a faraway
place like Port-Harcourt or Jigawa State. They will then ask you to pay 50K to their account
to enable them bring the car to wherever you are for full payment.

Some of these scammers are smart enough to list their cars in un-moderated websites like
Dudomart.com, Tradestable.com.ng etc where nobody will challenge them or delete their ads.
However, lately, they have started operating on Nairaland. The moderators should please
watch out for them. Most of us can tell a scammer when we see one but some people can't.
Such people may end up falling victim to these "smart" scammers.

The seller below appears to be one of them. His prices are ridiculously low and he claims
his cars are in Jigawa State. In fact one of the pictures he posted shows a car that
belongs to me. He claims it is in Jigawa State when it is not. The seller in question
uses different names on different websites but on Nairaland, he goes by the name below:

MartinsAutosNg - https://www.nairaland.com/martinsautosng

Search for the phone numbers 08102166413 or 08185539360 on Google and you will see all the
websites he operates on.

Here's a link to the 2009 Camry he is claiming to sell for 1.8M which in actual fact
belongs to me. The picture also appears below.

You and I may not fall for this. But a first time car buyer who has no idea what cars sell
for certainly can. In that case, the scammer shares 95% of the blame.

This fellow also operates here under the user name: Bodemofe11 (there may be others). He
already has one interested buyer asking the following question regarding one of his "cars"
in Jigawa State:

crown777: Can u bring it to lagos and what is the history of the car.

@Crown777,

You're about to be taken for a ride.

its good that u made it public so that some innocent people will not fall into their trap.sometimes they tell u to come to some crises torn areas in nigeria like maiduguri to collect the car which they know very well that you wont go .they will then request transport /processing money from u which is around 60k.LOL...this is very funny but thats what they actually do.

Here's another one advertizing a "government-seized" 2010 Pathfinder for 650,000. Take note
of his phone numbers: 08165081232 and 08132344454. He is on several websites including NL.

Moderators,

Please look into this new dealer. His name is CustomSale and he claims his cars are located
at "Customs Office". Experience has taught us that anybody that has the word "Customs" in his
name or thread is most likely a scammer.

Also, his phone number: 08102349184 was flagged as a scammer number on Facebook.

Here's a link to the Highlander at "Customs Office":
