President Goodluck Jonathan ‘s motor convoy was yesterdayinvolved in an accidentin Paris, France. The accident reportedly occurred as President Jonathanwas travelingwith his aides to a meeting with the French President Francois Gerard Hollande . According to SaharaReporters , a French Police source disclosed that the accident occurred 15 minutes away from theElysee Palace, the venue of the official meeting with the French leader. The carinvolved in the accident was the fifth car behind that of President Jonathan. The report further stated that Jamilu Waziri, a presidential liaison officer (PLO), was injured in the accident and had to betaken to a hospital where he received treatment for a brokenankle. As a result of the accident he was unable to attend the meeting but he later flew with President Jonathan who is due toarrive in Abuja shortly.The wounded officer walked with the aid of a pair of crutches. A French official confirmed the accidentto Saharareporters . Thelarge size of the Nigerian delegation meant that President Jonathan’s aides couldnot fit into the official vehicles provided by the French government. Accordingto the French source, a car rented by the Nigerianembassy in Paris to convey some of the Nigerian delegates was involvedin the accident. Asked who was liable for any damages that resultedfrom the accident, thesource disclosed that French authorities “would not be liable for injuries or damages from the carcrash.” Thank God no life was lost during the incident.
