Telephone numbers that will help subscribers in difficulty get emergency help and social services will soon be ready across the 36 state capitals and Abuja, according to the telecommunications regulator.

Speaking at 54th edition of the consumer outreach programme popularly known as Consumer Telecom Parliament which held yesterday in Ikorodu, Lagos, Mr.Okey Itanyi, executive commissioner, stakeholder management, NCC who was represented by Mr. Bashir Sanni, director, technical standards and network integrity, NCC said work has reach advanced stage across the country on the emergency communications centres, which will assist in combating crime, saving lives and improving the quality of telecom services from operators.

In a presentation, he made, Sanni said NCC is collaborating with the Ministry of Communications Technology in drafting a bill on critical national infrastructure that will protect telecom facilities against any destruction which will be forwarded to National Assembly for enactment into law.

“It is obvious that without telecom infrastructure, there will be no telecom service, and so it is our collective responsibility to protect telecom infrastructure in our locality,” he said.

Don't mind those 'yeye' NCC people. Here in Yola, the emergency center they have been constructing for over 3 years now is nowhere near completion. If they cannot complete a building that will handle such infrastructure, how will they roll out the service? NCC is the most funniest set of Government agency in Nigeria.
