The Pastor Chasers ( Second Edition ) by Nobody: 11:04pm On Feb 21, 2013
Christians, even though with innocent and good hearted intentions, are pastor chasers. Pastors are not Jesus Christ, they only give the pretense of being God. This would be denied by pastors, but nevertheless they want personal followers, and lots of them. Christians chase pastors all over the country and into pastors "camp meetings", "revivals", "purpose driven churches" "seminars", and into the church buildings, cathedrals, and temples of "worship". For millions of Christians, life revolves around pastors. Christians seem to be unable to function in life without pastors doing their thinking. Pastors are idols in the lives of countless millions. Christians are addicted to pastors, because even though they would deny it, they think pastors are the key to salvation, the way to eternal life.

Anyone who reads the teachings of Jesus Christ would have to wonder how it is that Christians have chosen to follow pastors instead of following Jesus Christ. Christians have had the idea that somehow pastors have a special relationship with God, that normal human beings can't or don't have. They tend to think that pastors are smarter, holier, more righteous, wiser, have greater understanding of spiritual truth, and are spiritual fathers who must be followed throughout life. Pastors are placed on a pedestal, exalted, waited on hand and foot, and generally almost worshiped by countless pastor chasers.

Christians have to have their weekly fix, by going to church, and listening to another sermon, while they sit obediently in pews like sheep who hear only the voice of pastors. Jesus said, "MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE." Christians think they hear the voice of Jesus Christ through pastors and through going to church, even though Jesus Christ lives in each individual through the Holy Spirit, if the Holy Spirit is indeed dwelling in the individual. For those who have read the Bible for themselves instead of what the pastors say the Bible says, when Jesus Christ was crucified, the veil of the physical temple was destroyed. Entry into the presence of God by each individual was made possible by Jesus Christ, and that personal one-on-one relationship with the Father/Jesus Christ is what most Christians seem to not comprehend. Christians think their relationship with Almighty God is through the pastors and through the church buildings, by following pastors and sitting in pews.

Salvation and eternal life do not come by pastors, nor by going to church. Salvation and eternal life is the exclusive domain of Jesus Christ. Any Christian knows very well John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." It does not say that, "whosoever believeth in pastors, or goes to church shall not perish, but have everlasting life," and yet the world of churchianity is equated to as being the way to salvation. So deeply embedded is the idea of churches and denominations that pastors and Christians alike see pastors and churches as essential to having eternal life, and to being a Christian.

Any Christian who was ever associated with a cult group should have no problem being very cautious toward human leaders. Just because many Christians believe they are in "mainstream" Christianity, does not make them exempt from false teachings, false doctrines, and being pastor chasers. Pastors are just as prone to sin, to error, to false beliefs and doctrines as anyone else. They are not superhuman, even though many of them think they are.

Millions of Christians have placed pastors in front of their lives, when the real Shepherd should be Jesus Christ. Pastors are leaders who want followers. They also want your money. They want you to believe they know and understand truth. They want you to regard them as special. They want your endless lifelong support. If they were real shepherds, they would point you to Jesus Christ and not to themselves. If they were real shepherds they would follow Jesus Christ, instead of following man-made traditions themselves. The "clergy/laity" system is a man-made tradition of long standing. Do you know any "pastors" who refuse to have personal followers?

Did Jesus Christ ever teach "follow your pastors" and be pastor chasers? The purpose driven church would lead you to believe that pastors are your infallible, inerrant spiritual leaders. They would also have you believe that you cannot live without your pastors. The one great fear all church pastors of every persuasion have is that you will STOP following them and their teachings. The reason is because when Christians STOP following pastors, then pastors will lose their power, their prestige, their comfort zone, their free money, their pride, their position, their authority. When this happens, people will only have one chose left: either they follow Jesus Christ, or they reject Jesus Christ. Does anyone ever consider that chasing pastors is a rejection of Jesus Christ? Is it complete heresy to say that churches are idols of worship? Do we worship pastors and churches, or do we worship our heavenly Father in Spirit and in truth?

Let me reiterate that there are some wonderful Pastors , Deacons and Apostles out there.

All I am saying and also the writer of this article , is that we should test all things and hold on to that which is good.

Fellowship is very very important.

These articles are targeted at hirelings and not true Shepherds.

Blessings.

What about Biblical sonship? Every Elijah needs an Elisha. Every Paul needs a Timothy. Every father needs a son.

jo never said temple and priest from his quote..he said pastoral mininstry. "And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evengelist; and some, PASTORS and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (eph 4:11-12)..so are you making God a liar?

Pastor is an office not a title.

All through the bible , we never hear of pastor so and so or teacher so and so , or deacon so and so. These were offices held by ordinary brethren for the benefit of the sheep especially the younger and more vulnerable believers.

If anything, it was the elders who 'ruled' , they were the more experienced, honorable and humble among the body of Christ.

They were not showmen, charlatans, hirelings or crooks.

No bros. He is only trying to enlighten people on the need not to lose focus on Christ. Honestly the way people adore pastors, bishops, overseers, prohets etc is really worrisome. A situation where every word and action from a pastor is seen as God inspired is very dangerous. JESUS REMAINS OUR MAIN FOCUS. PASTOR CAN FALL AWAY FROM THE FAITH ANY TIME BUT JESUS CANT. PASTOR CAN DISAPPOINT YOU BUT JESUS CANT. PASTOR CAN SAY OR TEACH SOMETHING FOR SELFISH GAIN BUT UNDER THE CLOAK OF GOD'S WORD. PASTOR CAN BE HYPOCHRITICAL BUT JESUS CANT. PASTOR IS NOT PERFECT BUT JESUS IS PERFECT. More worrisome is the fact that these pastors enjoy the whole attention and adoration rather than restraining their members from over doing it. It is even dangerous for a pastor to allow himself enjoy such level of attention and adoration because it will promote pride and hypochrisy in him which can be a distraction and barrier to his heavenly journey. So while this article is warning the church members its also warning the pastors. GOD IS NOT A RESPECTER OR PERSONS. (wether pastor or church member).

Yeah thats what it is but unfortunately only few of the pastors understands it while majority of them see pastor as a title and a call for people to fear and tremble before them. May God help us.

I once addressed a Pastor of a former church I attended as brother.X and he corrected me to call him PASTOR.

I found that rather ODD.

A pastor is a brother as per title and performs the office of a pastor which really means shepherd or delegated shepherd in this case.

4166 poimḗn – properly, a shepherd ("pastor" in Latin); (figuratively) someone who the Lord raises up to care for the total well-being of His flock (the people of the Lord).

A Pastor as per the Greek meaning is to care for the well-being of the flock not lording it over them.

The thread was obviosly created to stir controversy and never to edify the work of God or lead pple to christ, but a subtle attempt to lure pple away frm God.

The five-fold ministry (evangelist, pastor, teachers, prophets and deacons) are new testament xtain teachings, in terms of offices for effectiv needed for the effective work of the ministry.

Pastors are needed for counselling, assisting in prayers for the weaker xtains, teaching of God's word to the flocks (xtain congregations), and even rebuke and discipline xtains who err in faith.

Any teaching, gospel, crusade discouraging pple frm seekin guidance frm a more mature xtain (even pastors as well) is not only unbiblical but a mislead frm any1 who peddle such. Ther is no doubt there might be pple who are in the church to make merchandise of the gospel (which the apostles had warn us to beware), but does not mean the pple who are sincerely doing the work of God should be castigated.

No wonder the atheist find dis thread interesting to make a point and many post hidden. And its unfortunate this thread was created by a supposed 'xtain'.

true2god: The thread was obviosly created to stir controversy and never to edify the work of God or lead pple to christ, but a subtle attempt to lure pple away frm God.

On the contrary, it was created to 'lure' them away from the many Pastor's who are really hirelings.

The five-fold ministry (evangelist, pastor, teachers, prophets and deacons) are new testament xtain teachings, in terms of offices for effectiv needed for the effective work of the ministry.

Indeed, but they are not titles but offices. All believers possess some gift , this is not exclusive to a few self appointed rulers.

"9 I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church." - 3 John 1:9-10

Pastors are needed for counselling, assisting in prayers for the weaker xtains, teaching of God's word to the flocks (xtain congregations), and even rebuke and discipline xtains who err in faith.

All of us have the responsibility of rebuking and correcting not only Pastors or Teachers but also other Christians , when we see them walking into error or leading the sheep away from Christ to other false 'Christs'.

Besides , if a Pastor's teachings or mode of conduct are in misalignment with the bible and word of GOD , he should be rebuked and corrected, if he refuses to listen stop fellowshiping with him.

After all , the Bereans were normal brethren who had the brains to test Apostle Paul's doctrine, taking nothing for granted.

"Have nothing to do with people who continue to teach false doctrine after you have warned them once or twice." - Titus 3:10

Any teaching, gospel, crusade discouraging pple frm seekin guidance frm a more mature xtain (even pastors as well) is not only unbiblical but a mislead frm any1 who peddle such.

We have a duty to test all things, just because a monkey wears a suit does not make it human, the same way , just because a man bears the pastor title , it does not make him a true pastor.

One key issue many of you follow follow people miss, is that you have a responsibility to test all things and not just accept all teachings or preachings as valid. It is your duty to check your bibles and make sure what the Pastor says matches with the word of God and what the Holy Spirit is telling you.

"But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good" - 1 Thessalonians 5:21

1 Corinthians 14:29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said

1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Ther is no doubt there might be pple who are in the church to make merchandise of the gospel (which the apostles had warn us to beware), but does not mean the pple who are sincerely doing the work of God should be castigated.

Now you are talking , we agree on this one.

o wonder the atheist find dis thread interesting to make a point and many post hidden. And its unfortunate this thread was created by a supposed 'xtain'.

Sometimes Atheists can see the hypocrisy of many so called MOG more than the sheeple.
