The driver and front passenger floor of my SUV heats up while in motion, to the point that the hotness is felt on the hand gear, please house what can cause this, and what are the likely solutions. Please help. |

Please help. Again, I have no idea what SUV you run, as you've given no details. Make? Model? Model year? Engine size? Transmission type? A leaking exhaust / catalyst, or even a dead catalyst can cause excessive heat build-up under the vehicle, in the transmission tunnel area. A blocked catalyst can actually glow red. I would also have the underside of your SUV checked, to make sure all heatshields are in place. |

@ siena, thanks a million for the info, the suv is nissan xterra se, 4wd, 2000 model, v6 3.3l engine, automatic transmission, please. What are the consequencies of driving-on since I am not exactly close to a mechanic right now, and are the possible remedies? Thanks again |

Your check engine light is on. Severe misfire dumping fuel into your cat so its glowing. Siena will explain the rest. |

Catalyst converter most likely but surely you must have other symptoms. If not then it could be the heat-shields as earlier suggested. |
