DO YOU KNOW THAT IMPROPER LEVELING OF YOUR FOUNDATION WITH AN EXISTING ROAD OR EXPRESSWAY CAN LEAD TO FLOODING PROBLEMS?

Moving around the Island, I found out that some landlords who first built their houses, in some areas before the area became fully developed and others whose buildings are still under construction in other developing areas, did not ensure that the Engineer/Builder transfer leveling from an already existing road to the building site.

The consequence of this ignorance which the already completed buildings and the ones yet to be completed will suffer once the road networks in those areas are fully developed is severe flooding.

Having a property in an area that has no developed road network, you are likely not to experience flooding problems at first because water will flow out from your compound easily when it rains since your plot will level to the undeveloped road network. But as soon as that road construction begins in such an area, considering the facts that the surveyor of that road construction company will sight his leveling from the already existing express road, the floor of your compound will become lower than the constructed road making it difficult for rain water to exit your compound. Whenever it rains, water will be stagnant in your compound as it has nowhere to flow to.

We all know the problems that are associated with drainage systems in Lagos State. Some areas have drainage in streets that link to a major drainage systems having an outlet to a river or stream, while some areas do not have this kind of link drainage system at all.
