For most of us nairaland has become the best medium of keeping in touch with whats happening back home. So my people living in melbourne lets rob minds and discuss on mutual interests which is NIGERIA and probably Melbourne.

Just feel free and tell the house the suburb you live/work/school.

Feel free to discuss anything.

Am a potential Graduate Student in University of Melbourne, come July 2013. Where can one find a cheap accommodation in Melbourne, where a student (like i will soon be) live and commute to school.

Also which airline has the cheapest fare to Melbourne?

Appreciate your feedback. Thanks

University of melbourne is in the city(CBD) so you should be looking as a shared accomodation around the city which is more expensive than going to SE or Western surburbs. The transportation system in melbourne is very good...trains...trams...buses.

You can either do qatar or emirate but i think qatar is slightly cheaper.

Thank you

This thread is for Nigerians who live in melbourne to come together and rub minds but trust some people to come here and start asking questions of how long and what it takes to move to Australia.

Shut up already all of you

It might be a though call to secure an accoumodation while youre in Nigeria. Its a process you have to follow for everyhouse youre interested in. Unless you have someone to chill with...getting accommodation has a process that every agent will/make you follow.

Lol. Like you took those thoughts off my head. Imagine someone who has e-mail address and could register on Nairaland asking where Melbourne is.

I will dare say that melbourne is a very nice place and you can get a job easily if youre very positive about it. you should know that people have different stories to tell but i will alway suggest you do listen to the bad ones. i will also say that you school open your mind to start up small while you get into the system if possible...once your experienced in the australian work environment.. work will start to chase you. Not having an australian local experience is usually the greats first hurdle to cross. if possible, do a quick short course.
concerning cultural shock...bros youve got to loose all your naija mentality if youve got one...nobody dey look you for here o so no laulau at all. Australian are generally nice and friendly but not without a few exeptions here and dere.

Above all be positive!
