Are There Any Insects You Like? by maclatunji: 12:52pm On Apr 02, 2013 |
The tendency is for human beings to hate insects, the question is, are there any ones you like? I like Rhinoceros beetles and I am yet to meet anyone that hates butterflies but they are too delicate. You can actually have a beetle crawl all over you. I used to have them brought home for me to play with as a child. I would play with it for a few minutes and let it go- I had little interest in keeping them permanently.

Yeah, I remember those. Kids would tie threads around their prothoraxes and run to every single place on Earth, with them. Kids can be very mean, walahi. I love fireflies...from a distance, though. They're always a wonder to behold at night.

^Yeah! We used to have loads of fireflies in my area in the past. Now, they are very rare. It is also very nice to see Ladybirds. Very pretty things. |

I don't mind butterflies, ladybugs, but I HATE spiders, mosquitoes, grasshoppers, cockroaches, moths, fleas, ticks, red ants, well, any kind of ant that gets into the house. Bottom line, there are more kinds of bugs that I'm scared of than what I like. |

Well...I really don't fancy insects that much...most of them can be annoying...insects like flies, (when you attend a wedding reception under a canopy, you'll know that they can be so annoying). Mosquitoes (my blood is better off in my body than in theirs, thanks) Roaches (damm...they carry a lot of disease I hate them so much). Ants (they can be annoying if they get near the sugar or stuff like that) Bugs (They bite, cause itching and buzz right in the ear.) But I'll give credit to spiders cos they're a hell of an insect...they eat a lot of most annoying insects, such as mosquitoes, flies...etc, and they're also very crafty...I don't think I can harm a spider. |

My Favourite Insects: Dragon flies(aero-dynamic feat of nature), Damsel flies(ditto), Butterflies(Beautiful delicate creatures), Moths(I wanna know why they're pyro-maniacs), Fireflies(Cold light mystery), Crickets(When they're not using me as a springboard when asleep, they can be useful thermometers.), Ladybirds(both red and yellow variants), Ants (Honey and shea butter detectors), Scarab beetles(very valuable)... The rest if harmful to me, are killed on sight, sound, smell or touch. |

Oh, I forgot to mention the 'Daddy-long-legs'. They bounce like all those classic Cadillacs on serious hydraulic systems... Maybe P-square could take inspiration for their next vid. |

firestar: Oh, I forgot to mention the 'Daddy-long-legs'. They bounce like all those classic Cadillacs on serious hydraulic systems... Firestar! Never tot i cud catch you waxing none lyrically. Good to know .... @op, maybe . Lightening bugs Lampyridae is a family of insects in the beetle order Coleoptera. They are winged beetles, and commonly called fireflies or lightning bugs for their conspicuous crepuscular use of bioluminescence to attract mates or prey. Fireflies produce a "cold light", with no infrared or ultraviolet frequencies. This chemically produced light from the lower abdomen may be yellow, green, or pale-red, with wavelengths from 510 to 670 nanometers. About 2,000 species of firefly are found in temperate and tropical environments. Many are in marshes or in wet, wooded areas where their larvae have abundant sources of food. These larvae emit light and are often called "glowworms", in particular, in Eurasia. In the Americas, "glow worm" also refers to the related Phengodidae. In many species, both male and female fireflies have the ability to fly, but in some species, females are flightless. A lil wiki! ℓ☺ℓz |
