Nigeria has recorded an estimated 25percent growth in online shopping in 2011 valued at N62.4billion, which is an increase growth of additional N12.5billion to the N49.9billion recorded in 2010, a report by Euromonitor International, a global market research organisation, revealed.

Between the years 2000 and 2010, the number of Nigerian internet users reportedly grew from 200,000 to more than 40 million. With this development, market watchers are estimating that the value of online shopping may go as high as N150 billion by 2014.

With the growth of online Retail stores like , , Konga.com, Dealdey.com, Egoleshopping.com, buyright.com, etc, informed shoppers have gone with the global wind especially as cashless and e-payment system introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria have made transaction more easier and traceable in any case of fraud.
