Recently the Telecommunication firms in Nigeria threatened a show down with NSE if they don't drop the idea that they need to be listed on the floor of the exchange.

Our Telecos are all privately owned and they are refusing to go public. Are they scared of hitting public or what??

Investment gurus, if you have any idea/s why it is so, pls kindly share wink

Telcos are raking a huge amount of profits for now in Nigeria because Nigeria is a virgin market for them so the owners don't want to share the huge profits with anyone. imagine the huge amount MTN and DSTV are making in Nigeria. They will only go public when they see that the market is about to become too saturated to make huge profits again. remember that few years ago Starrcomm went public,it is because they have sen that CDMA market is becoming less attractive in Nigeria so the next thing is to cash in their remaining money through public offer. That's the rule of business
