Babcock University Increases School Fees, Now Up To N3million by NonsoB: 12:32pm On Apr 21, 2013
Babcock university just released the school fees for the next session which some students think it's outrageous but can't protest for fear of expulsion or suspension.

See it below..

Accounting - N1.5million per session
Nursing - N1million per session
Law - N2million per session
Medicine - N3million per session
Others - N860,000 per session

Ridiculous! isn't it?

A Christian university that claimed to be a non-profit organisation. Anyway I blame it on the people that patronize them. There are Federal universities, state universities and even some private universities all over the country that are less expensive, but they chose this one.

How many accountants are paid more than N200,000 per month in this country? After paying 1million plus for a session in the university, you come out to be paid peanuts as salary, that's if you get a job.

Let's hear your say on this matter.

pafra: na wa oo.with the way things are going very soon is only the rich that can access quality education.

You're assuming that you'd access "quality education" by paying so much for a programme in Babcock University. I know for sure that you'd get better quality education in the likes of UI, OAU, Unilorin etc.
More money can sometimes buy you less quality, albeit better packaged.

You're getting it twisted. Many parents send their wards to Private schools not because they're wealthy but because it seems to be a better option due to the epileptic Educational system offered by the Govt. Nobody wishes to waste so much money on less when they can get more quality by spending much less.

I am on my kneels pleading with Tonto, sorry MODs of Nairaland, this topic should be taken to the home page.
I will keep saying it and saying it loudly,
NO NATION CAN RISE ABOVE THE QUALITY OF IT's TEACHERS/TUTORS/EDUCATORS.

In a country where poverty is ravishing both the middle class (do we even have that anymore) and the poor class, some people will bring out a Million or more (that is some people's six years salary) to send their wards to some obscure and glorified secondary schools all in the name of obtaining QUALITY EDUCATION, at the expence of the rest of the masses.

Private University my foot, after the elites have completely grounded our educational system.
Am Out.

First of all, JAMB gives one the opportunity to choose any school one wishes and there are over 100 universities in nigeria. So to serve nigeria is not by force!

Accounting - N1.5million per
session
Nursing - N1million per session
am doubting the credibility of their nursing science.

Why will nursing fee be lesser than accounting? Or their accounting department has a laboratory?

That is the same amount as schools outside the country. The idea is , instead of sending ur child outside let them stay back , enjoy the same facilities and quality of education as abroad.
However note that private school are mainly for parents who could afford sending their wards abroad but just prefer them back here and also for those that have sworn never to pass JAMB and the parents says 'u must start school this year' apart from that I can't see why people should chose those prisons over our prestigious federal universities

UNILAG: sch fees=13k ranking 2nd
How wise is ur dad.?

I just saw this on FB..... I would rather my parents send me over-seas to go and study than for me to stay in Nigeria studying in a glorified secondary school.

Linda! i cannot believe your comment on the choice of students attending private universities. yes, there are other choices but do you know the processes and how long it takes to gain admission in any of those tertiary institutions you mentioned? i am 29 years old and will be graduating in a couple of months from Bingham University, a private school located in Keffi road, Nasarawa state. yes, 29 years old! do you know how many JAMB exams i've written? do you know many pre-degree and diplomas i've done in federal and state schools? do you know how many times i scored well above the pass mark in JAMB but still wasn't granted admission? do you know how many times i had to bribe for my name to be included in an admission list but was devastated when i found out i was scammed? do you know how many men that asked me to book hotel rooms so they can stuff their man meat inside me in exchange for an admission into an institution? No Linda Ikeji, you don't know or have an answer to any of the questions i asked above. My peers have all graduated, most done with their masters, married with kids and experiencing the things they should at the right time. after my last experience where i was given a fake admission letter in an Eastern state school and was in 200 level already when i found out, i decided to go to a private school (Bingham University). the amount of money i pay as tuition+other charges is outrageous and the services i get for them is petty but what can i (
we) do? my father breaks his back to see that he gets my fees paid as i don't have a man to support me cos the decent men of these days want to mingle and marry graduates. even if i did have a man, i am not one to go soliciting for funds from men i didn't give money to keep for me. LOL. its true. I just felt that i should call you out on your opinion, i know its yours but it hit home.

The above was someones comment on linda ikejis blog na wa all of you criticizing them you think say e easy to enter federal uni abeg park well.

the argument that sending ur children abroad do not need is very faulty, what is the impart of babcock in the community of schools, and even the ranking of universities in Africa, babcock is not even among and among the world best 400 schools, no African university is on the list, so on what bases are they charging this amount and the reason for the increase in almost 70% increase from previous fees. take a look, gotten from the schools website.
My own titbit is instead of paying this much for a university that rarely contributes to social development in Ogun state, i would rather send my child abroad to attend the 2nd or 3rd best school in the world, at-least, the teaching and the development process they will imbibe in my child would last a long while than what is obtainable in babcock university of today.

All additional fees charged by the school no need 100,000. so on what bases is the increase!!!!

How much is a certification exam and its training, that the school should charge the almost the same amount over a 4 or 5 years period.
For IT certification training, the most costly for a training is around $1000 or 160,000 for CCNP to CCIE LEVEL for Cisco certificate. So on what bases is the school charging this much for tuition, or would these students sleep in luxurious rooms with king size cozy beds with 24 hrs light to stimulate mental development and character?

All these guys spewing "ranking", I wonder the basis for that ranking. In which an institution with a 4x4, 12-man room is ranked above one with a 15x15 2-man room. Or one with decaying classrooms is ranked above one with well-functioning and adequately-equipped classrooms.

Let's not talk of cultism.
