Hi Nairalanders, what do you think about a distance MSc Programme offered in Nigeria by some Business Schools like SBS and GIC Nigeria. they seem to say they bring internationally acclaimed certificate to the country. do you think they are genuine and it worth the try? would the certificate been recognised? They really demand for real cash close to a million. please drop your comments about what you think? I need this info since going abroad is proving difficult. please drop vital comments. u cud view http://sbsng.org/index.php

in my own opinion,
i tought of that SBS and after much investigation and consideration i decided to forget about them.

It depends on what you want to achieve. are you looking for certificate or the knowledge? if you desire a good MBA and you have the amount those SBC and GIC are demanding for, then, i advice you to consider LBS and Esut Business School.
you will gain solid knowledge, recognition and preference any where even outside the country.
But if its just to bear an international University affiliated Certificate, go there and enrich those pastors/evangelists, i dont think you will get value, its mere certificate.
my opinion ohhhhh, pls dont feel offended.

I'm sure you want progress in career path, salary increase and/or international recognition and reputation. These and more are possible reasons you might consider taking an MBA. I'll not stake my hard-earned money into some crap programs. I checked SBS website and it doesn't look it at all. I'll not consider it a choice even if they offer full scholarship. It might be a waste of money, time and life after all. There are much better programs online. You may even consider studying full time or part time abroad. I wish you the best in your career and life.

Don't limit your chances. If you need business education, then go ahead and get an MBA that is worth it. Does SBS belong to the international community of accredited business schools. How many professors are there in SBS? I mean internationally recognised profs and tutors like Phillip Kotler of Kellogg School of Management in Northwestern University. Experienced, exposed, vast and reputed. How many countries and continents will you visit in the course of the program?
If you need education, then get REAL education. Not a mushroom, kangaroo arrangement by some hungry, jobless folks. Later.

Thanks for your comments. i am so happy you did. I was so suprised to see the advert on our national dallies (Guardian). i really needed a check on this. i am actually working so i tot i could give it a consideration since it's on weekends. i think i would disregard that. What would you suggest for a working person like me?

I might need some details to give adequate and appropriate piece of advice. I'm working myself but needs some experience before I run off the shores for graduate studies or business education. First, do not limit your chances. Consider all available options and wigh your choices. Second, don't be scared of investing. The return on inverstment is certainly worth the stress, time and money. There are good programs in Nigeria with better standards and at good costs. Lagos Business School (now Pan African University) seems to be a good idea for specialised business education. Do you considerit expensive? That's relative, though. You may decide to take Executive MBA in some prestigious universities. MBA Ife seems one of the best if not the best in Ngeria. Weigh your option. Take actions, but don't stay still. Be progressive and enrich your career. All the best, dear.
