rahman24: Is there a device for converting current voice to text? which enable hearing loss to understand what speaker is saying at lecture or anywhere. i need it because i m hard of hearing if anyone knows pls tell me.No such device would do that except it is wired to a computer..you cant possibly put just one device around your wrist or as a hearing aid to change spoken words to text without a pc, where would the text display on? My point is that you could use a software, such that your computer records the voice and a software would then convert it to text for ya..IBM developed one some years back, also Dragon, yea use Dragon. |

CodeHouse: yea , but the problem with such softwares is that, the voice source must be crystal clear and 2ndly, the speaker ( voice source ) must be good in pronounciation of english word. |

nke001:Yup, I developed a demo, it recorded sound from the sound card directly so as to eliminate noise, but the whole idea was to program a text to speech app not speech to text 1 Like |

rahman24: it comes preinstalled on most recent windows ( win xp, vista, win 7 and ... But are totally unreliable in noisy environment and non phonetics speakers. Why not try ''electronic hearing aid'' kit ---- it usually consists of a microphone (to detect voice signal), amplifying circuit( to increase / boost the signal recieved from the microphone), and speaker/ pair of speakers( to decode/listen to the amplified signal. U can do it yourself or go for well designed ones with good noise filter ==check electronics or musical instruments shop. gOOgle for more info. |

CodeHouse:congratulations on your initial success! U can get "text to speech software" and see how they work. get these appz using google search ... , but for Rahman, Electronic Hearing Aid Kit is the best way to go due to the environmental conditions. |
