Victoria Beckham diet and exercise secret: Sit-ups

Victoria Beckham admits to doing a series of two hundred sit-ups each day to maintain toned abdominals. Toned abdominals are obviously important to her since she appears in the public eye wearing some extremely form fitting outfits.

Analysis:

Two hundred sit-ups per day would seem a bit extreme. Plus, if she does the same series of exercises every day, her body will eventually adjust and stop showing improvements in muscle tone. It would be best to incorporate sit-ups into a more diverse abdominal exercise routine incorporating a variety of exercises targeting upper and lower abdominals. It also should be remembered that you can't spot reduce. Abdominal exercises won't remove abdominal fat. Aerobic exercise combined with resistance training is best for achieving a flat abdomen.

Olympian Sanya Richards-Ross gives student-athletes pep talk

The Redbird track team got a pep talk Monday as they prepared for next weekend’s Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Northern Iowa, but it wasn’t from their coaches.

It was from one of the most decorated female track and field athletes of all time, Sanya Richards-Ross, who won gold in the 400 meters in London last summer.

Richards-Ross visited Illinois State on Monday to speak to more than 500 people at a Cultural Dinner celebrating Black History Month. Before the dinner, the Olympian spent 15 minutes with more than 60 student-athletes from Illinois State and its University High laboratory school. She shared her thoughts on the transition from collegiate to professional competition, and she described her rigorous training regimen.

[b]“Did you say 1,000 sit-ups a day?” [/b]one student-athlete asked when Richards-Ross rattled off her workout.

You can do as many sit ups as time will permit in a day if that day has some parts of it dedicated to work out. You just need to rest involved.

When I think of it during soccer training sessions I have once a week we'll do 20 reps of sit ups while jugging round the pitch stopping at all four corners and the half way line which is about 120 reps within a 15 minutes max.
