100 albinos in Jigawa provided N12 million worth of sun creams by state government



brahim Rabakaya, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa Rehabilitation Board, has disclosed that in the last six years, the government of that state has spent over N12 million to purchase cosmetics and sun creams for 100 albinos in the state.

Rabakaya said that the move was a gesture by government to protect the albinos from the rays of the sun and avoid skin diseases.

“It is a deliberate policy design to improve the socio-economic well-being of persons with albinism.”

Mr. Rabakaya said that the board had also trained albinos on various trades under its skills acquisition programmes to enable them be self-reliant.

He added that the programme would encourage albinos to set up their businesses and contribute to the development of the society.
