gbame: The bizarre aspect of the police finding was that a 23-year old boy

I don't think a 23-year old is a boy any longer.

Exactly my thoughts! By the time he clocks 30, he would have had his seeds dispersed all over the world.

gbokukueba: Why can't we have an effective baby adoption process for couples to legitimately adopt children...?

There is an effective adoption process in place but the demand far outstrips the supply. Waiting mothers can wait for several years. The awareness about adoption is so high that many couples wait for very long to have their bundles of joy.
The major reason why such centres thrive is because of this huge demand. There is also the other side of those who want to shield their adopted children of the so-called stigma of being adopted. They are the mothers-to-be who fake such pregnancies and buy from these unlicensed homes. The stories of those pregnancies are about the same
1. woman tells friends and family she's pregnant. Nobody else can see the growth (tho some take hormonal supplements to simulate growth). Even pregnancy tests are all negative, but the woman insists she's pregnant
2. she never goes for ante-natal in a regular hospital but in such maternity homes where she's given herbs
3. the baby is never delivered in a regular hospital but must travel to the rural area and the herb-woman handles the delivery.
Our society values children, but how long will women cover secrets? The IVF option is booming and improving everyday. Many women in their fifties are experiencing pregnancies and having multiple deliveries through assisted fertilization. Is it not better than this shameful conduct?

My dear friend, your ignorance is unfortunate and quite pathetic. Read Abagworo's post on page two of this thread if you are unable to decipher the comment below.

Seems you missed my links. I'll post them again before your likes turn this to a hate thread. Rivers, Abia, Anambra, Akwa-Ibom, Lagos, Enugu have had their fair share of this same embarrassment and people like you didn't make this kind of assertions.

I present them once again.

IVF is expensive and there's a stigma attached to it, all the couples I know who do it don't like admitting it. I know a guy who had a great girl in her early 30s, to wed. His parents insisted she get pregnant before the wedding. When it didn't happen, they claimed it was her age. So the dude broke up with her and broke her heart, and married a younger girl. Guess who had the reproductive issues? They still ended up doing IVF and will never admit it.

With so many practitioners competing, the price is coming down and so does the "stigma". The couple may not admit it not because of stigma but of gratitude to God. Admitting is like praising the doctor whereas many will prefer to give God the glory that they eventually succeeded. After all, the success rate is still about 25% despite the cost
