Rights and due process group, Due Process Advocates (DPA) has intervened in the plight of Onyinyechi Orakwuelum, the teenage rape victim who is presently being held by the police for stabbing her attacker to death.

The group disclosed their involvement in the matter through a statement by its Coordinator, Barr. Emeka Ugwuonye, who stated that the story of Onyinyechi is ‘moving and could raise issues that touch on our fundamental beliefs’.

According to the statement, Ugwuonye finds the statement of Onyinyechi that she acted in self-defence credible.
