the only thing NUC knows how to do is to ban universities. . . with the emergency in our educational sector, shouldn't the creation of more universities be @ d top of their priority their requirements for university creation in Nigeria is too much, thats why common ghana is eating our billions. . .

Wise words man. How on earth will a student with anything between his/her ears attent such unknown universities. I saw the rockville @ ohaozora during my nysc days and I knew this was fake even back then, then someone will open his eyes and pay school fees here, na wa oh.upon fake scholl can bust a student 2 fake extra years.

When they graduate the schl will organise fake Nysc camp for them. Aren't they surprised that only students from their schools are in that camp.these students should be flogged for advanced stupidity.

My main issue with this paper degrees is that after that there are no skills even with skills no jobs. Govt should make education practical oriented and not paper oriented so even a graduate can self sustain on finishing scholl not treking the entire metropolis job hunting.

Naija wicked sha, advanced fee fraud on hapless peeps.

No, northern Nigeria is not viable for university business, the propretors will not have enough students, which means return on investment will be low becouse an average northern youth is either an almajiri or boko haram aspirant.

There's what's called standard in case u don't know, kudos to NUC!They should not go on licensing every glorified secondary school just because every tom, dick and harry wants to acquire university education.Quality should never be compromised.

Re: NUC Names 41 Illegal Universities by gerald09(m): 6:15pm On May 16, 2013
By next week they will all be legal again, the problem aint find them (cos so many illegal institutions full) and some of these named institutions have been operating for years. The problem is providing good legal 1s that can help reduce the pressure on the current 1s, this year alone JAMB complained about have more student n less universities.
The NUC oga wants to increase bribery money n dis lotz refuse to settle so they named them illegal until dey bring money cos when money talks rubbish will work.
Its great they found them out but, since quit a handful of Nigerians especially the government 1s are bunch of selfish, illiterate, money hungry, religious psychopaths these institutions have absolutely nuffin to worry about. The government worker always have a price.

Jman06: There's what's called standard in case u don't know, kudos to NUC!They should not go on licensing every glorified secondary school just because every tom, dick and harry wants to acquire university education.Quality should never be compromised.

Quality my foot!!!

If the only reason we don't have enough unis in Nigeria is due to poor standards, then what do you call the present ones?

I'm not ruling out d fact that some might actually be illegal, but the NUC itself is making it hard for more universities to be created. Heard from a reliable source that you need at least 25 hectares (61+ Acres) of land to build a university according to NUC regulations. What's space got to do with d quality of education? Hamburg University of Applied Science in Germany has way below such land area, but their certificate will murder OAU's on the employers' desk.

Truth is. . . The Nigerian government really needs to adjust its priorities if anything is to work in this country. Not just the educational sector, but all!!!

In Naija people fight over everything: pharmacists fight dokita, civil engineer fight architect etc.

If polytechnics did their job prperly, and govt got industrialisation going well, HNDs would be technical staff in car, metallurgical and other industrial areas. University would produce more academically-orientated staff: lawyers, vets, historians etc.

But right now, everyone is chasing banking and oil jobs.

German industries rely on people trained in their "fachhochschulen", roughly equivalent to polytechnics/University of Applied sciences/arts and their economy has done wll for over 60 years! They can even award MSc/MA.

It is lack of job that is causing the bruhaha.
