A Thread For Researchers by BigBenoski(m): 10:18am On May 17, 2013
Greetings great nairalanders! I have benefited immensely from this forum and will like to give back a little. I have noticed that a lot of researchers, especially students run into a lot of problems in the course of their research. Many don’t know how best to design their research to make some scientific sense, some don’t know what to do with data when they start arriving, some can’t even source for relevant journals to aid their research.... The consequences of these are poorly designed research works, time and money wastage, resort to copy and paste etc. This thread aims but not limited to
• Guide researchers on the best ways to approach their areas of interest
• Guide researchers on how to source for academic materials or provide such for them if available
• Offer researchers technical assistance in difficult areas
• Advice researchers on how best to analyze and report their data using appropriate statistical tools
• Guide researchers on how to prepare their papers for publication
• Serve as a meeting point for lovers of research to exchange information
I know there are great minds here so please let’s help make this work. We can start by declaring interest and stating our areas of specialization. When questions come in, persons who specialize in such areas would proffer solutions. These solutions, of course would be debated by authorities in the area and refined. No one knows it all. Someone said ‘you start dying immediately you stop learning’. We can all learn from someone.
NB: It’s sickening to see the poo our students churn out as ‘projects’. It has become a norm for them to run to other school libraries to photocopy other person’s thesis and retype as theirs. Some of them want to work but don’t know how to go about it; thanks to myriad half baked ‘lecturers’ patrolling our institutions of learning. Nairalanders, let’s help restore the dignity of the Nigerian educational system.
