Outside the university how many people solve day to day problems they encounter using theories and models they learn from their undergraduate and post graduate degrees? I am particular keen in finding out if there is a substantial degree of disparity in theories from one discipline to the other, I am aware most disciplines are interdependent, hence similar approach to problem solving on the other hand some discipline are are at opposite end of the scale for example lawyers will typically favour punitive methods as a deterrent, economist will look to make it less desirable through say tax and psychologist will seek to re-condition said behaviour.
Finally, can we conveniently apply those theories from our various degrees to solve problems that our society is facing today?
To put this in perspective let’s consider the problem of piracy and theft of intellectual property that many creative artiste are suffering today.
My question is how will say a physics, maths, law, business, economics graduate solve the situation using strictly theories from your degree and no personal manoeuvres.
So guys lets have fun and learn at the same time
