They may not earn as much as Jay-Z and P. Diddy, but these women can certainly hold their own. Here are the top 10 richest female rappers in the world.... 10. MC Lyte – $8 million 2012 Grammy Awards Her real name is Lana Michelle Moorer, but she is more popularly known as MC Lyte. She was born on October 12, 1971 and the native of Brooklyn started rhyming when she was only 12 years old. In 1986, she recorded her first song entitled “I Cram to Understand U (Sam),” though it was originally written a couple of years before. In 1988, she released Lyte as a Rock, the first album ever released by a female solo rapper. The album was a critical success and featured the hit entitled “Paper Thin.” She then released Eyes on This that featured the hit “Cha Cha Cha.” She also appeared in movies like “Train Ride” and “Civil Brand.” 9. Eve – $18 million EVE Her full name is Eve Jihan Jeffers but she only uses Eve as her stage name. In 2002, she won the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Gwen Stefani for the song “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.” It was the first time that the award was ever given. She is considered as one of the 50 greatest women of the video era as determined by VH1. She was part of the movies entitled “Barbershop” and “Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” She also has a successful clothing line called Fetish. 8. Salt – $20 million Style: "Porcelain vivid" Her real name is Cheryl James, but she is better known as Salt. She is one third of the hip hop trio called Salt-n-Pepa, one of the first all-girl rap crews. Born on March 28, 1966 in Brooklyn, she was part of the original crew that was formed in 1984 along with Pepa, with DJ Spinderella joining two years later. She was part of the 1987 movie called “Who’s the Man?” She was also part of the album entitled God’s Property, one of the best selling gospel albums in history. She collaborated with Kirk Franklin and God’s Property, with Salt contributing the song called “Stomp.” 7. Pepa – $20 million pepa Her real name is Sandra Denton, but she goes by the stage name Pepa. She was born on November 9, 1969 in Kingston in Jamaica. She is one of the two original members of the hip hop and rap crew called Salt-n-Pepa. The group was formed in 1984 before a third member was added in 1986. Pepa then became part of the cast of “The Surreal Life” in 2005. She also had appearances in “Joe’s Apartment,” “First Time Felon” and “Oz.” She also had a guest spot in the television sitcom called “Are We There Yet?” She also had her own reality show on VH1 called “Let’s Talk About Pep.” 6. DJ Spinderella – $20 million spinderella Her real name is Deidra Muriel Roper, though she uses the stage name DJ Spinderella. She became part of Salt-n-Pepa after DJ Latoya Hanson was dismissed for missing appearances and performances. She became the group’s DJ and she came in just in time for the group’s first album. She made appearances in movies like “Stay Tuned” and “Kazaam.” She also hosted her own radio show called “The Backspin” in KKBT 100.3 in Los Angeles. She has a child with former National Basketball Association point guard Kenny Anderson. 5. Bahamadia – $32 million bahamadia Her real name is Antonia Reed, but she is better known by her stage name Bahamadia. She is popular for her monotone delivery and her positive attitude towards globalism in the hip hop genre. In one of her tracks called “Global,” she acknowledged the ever-growing hip hop communities in countries like Canada, Norway, Sweden, Thailand and Japan. Her first album was released in 1996. Entitled Kollage, the album was a critical hit and it featured production from Guru and DJ Premier of Gang Starr. She followed it up in 2001 with the EP release called “BB Queen.” 4. Roxanne Shante – $48 million rocanne Her real name is Lolita Shante Gooden, but she is better known as Roxanne Shante. She is known for her ability to freestyle and improvise entire songs. She hit it big after taking up the cudgels for producers, whose shows got affected by the cancellation of UTFO. UTFO had a song that time called “Roxanne, Roxanne” and Shante took the name of Roxanne to record a disc called “Roxanne’s Revenge.” As another artist allied with UTFO was also recording using the name “The Real Roxanne,” the Roxanne Wars erupted and it made Shante a hip hop star. Her single sold 250,000 copies in New York. In 1989, she had her debut album called Bad Sister. She followed it up in 1992 with The Bitch is Back. 3. Queen Latifah – $51 million queen-latifah-bet-awards-afterparty-show Her real name is Dana Elaine Owens, but she goes by the stage name of Queen Latifah. She released her first album in 1989 called All Hail the Queen. She has since found success in acting as well, winning a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for the movie “Life Support.” She was also part of “Chicago” for which she also got an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She then appeared in movies like “Bringing Down the House” and “Hairspray.” 2. Ladybug Mecca – $61 million mecca Her real name is Mary Ann Vieira, though she is better known as Ladybug Mecca. She was one third of the alternative hip hop trio called Digable Planets, where she was joined by Ishmael Butterfly Butler and Craig Doodlebug Irving. The group received critical success and praise for its excellent combination of jazz and hip hop. It released two albums, Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space) and Blowout Comb. 1. Missy Elliott – $251 million missy Her full name is Melissa Arnette Elliott, but she is more known as Missy Elliott. She has won five Grammy Awards and has sold more than 30 million records. All six of her albums have been certified as platinum, the only female rapper with that honor. uniqueval: Google is not a source in itself, neither do Google search results necessarily reflect fact. A quick search generates results from different sources; some indicate Missy is worth around $50m (which I believe is most likely the real range of her wealth). Only some funny blogs with zero credibility suggest she's worth $251m - which means she's richer than the likes of Beyonce? ? ? Let's wait for Forbes to validate that. |

This list is that of someone's personal favorite rappers when last did missy drop an album to be worth that much , if missy elliot should be on that list then lil kim and da brat should also be there. I knw lil kim was a big deal in those days |
