My opinion:
Life is what you make of it. Some people are born in horrible circumstances sometimes with deformities too. Some are born into very rich families and life is all full of roses for them. The latter would see life as a gift while the former would see it as a curse.

I choose to make mine a gift to others though: help them in whatever little way I can, financially and otherwise.
