Rangers have finally signed striker Steven Naismith from Kilmarnock for a fee of £1.9m.

The Ibrox club failed with repeated offers for the 20-year-old over the summer but got their man in the final few minutes of the transfer window.

Naismith submitted then withdrew a transfer request at Rugby Park and has performed well for Killie this term.

Rangers claimed they had dropped their interest in the SPFA Young Player of the Year but nipped in with a late bid.

Sandy Bryson, head of the Scottish FA's registration department, confirmed that paperwork confirming the deal was complete arrived by fax at Hampden at 23.59 BST, beating the midnight deadline.

Naismith, who bagged 19 goals last season, has been on target once already during this campaign - in the 3-0 CIS Cup win at Peterhead.

And he turned in a good performance against Rangers in the 2-1 loss to the league leaders at Rugby Park last weekend.

Celtic enquired about a possible move for Naismith in late July but Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies claimed the Scottish champions then failed to follow up a verbal offer.

MILAN, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Inter Milan forward Alvaro Recoba has signed for Torino on loan, the Serie A clubs said on Friday, making it unlikely that Adriano will leave Inter before the transfer deadline shuts.

Uruguayan Recoba, who has spent 10 years at the San Siro, including a loan spell at Venezia, had been knocked down the pecking order at the Italian champions given their array of attacking talent.

Torino and Inter announced the loan deal on their website.

Inter President Massimo Moratti said earlier this week that he would only let one of either Recoba and Adriano leave and that the Brazilian could only go out on loan.

England's West Ham United held talks with Inter about Adriano while Manchester City, Lazio and Parma have also expressed an interest.

Adriano, who has lost his place in the Inter and Brazil sides after two years of patchy form and weight problems, has said he would only consider a permanent move away and would prefer to stay and fight for his place at Inter.

MADRID, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Atletico Madrid have agreed to sign Barcelona's Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta, the Primera Liga club said on Friday.

The 25-year-old product of the Barca youth system will take a medical later on Friday and sign a one-year deal after being told he was surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.

Motta's arrival as a holding midfielder has facilitated the sale of Atletico's Frenchman Peter Luccin to Real Zaragoza on a three-year contract.

Luccin, 28, had been a first-team regular at the Calderon since moving from Celta Vigo in 2004. No financial details were released.

Motta joins Diego Forlan, Simao Sabrosa, Jose Antonio Reyes and Luis Garcia, among other new signings at Atletico, who have spent more than 70 million euros ($95.63 million) assembling their squad during the close season.

Both Atletico and Zaragoza are in the UEFA Cup this year.

SEOUL, Aug 31 (Reuters) - South Korea forward Lee Chun-soo has signed a four-year deal with Dutch club Feyenoord.

The diminutive winger would fly to the Netherlands on Friday afternoon to complete the 2 million euros ($2.7 million) deal, his Korean side Ulsan said in a statement.

Lee had been linked with a move to England's Premier League throughout the close season but a deal never materialised.

'We have come to the decision to let Lee Chun-soo move to Feyenoord for 2 million euros on a four-year contract,' Ulsan said in the statement.

'We have had these discussions for several months but the reason we hadn't been able to work out a deal was because Feyenoord had wanted a loan deal while Lee wanted a move.'

Lee had an unsuccessful stint in Spain after the 2002 World Cup but has been in red-hot form since his return to Korea. He won the K-League's MVP award in 2005 and was one of the few bright spots in the Koreans' 2006 World Cup campaign

Rangers have signed Charlton midfielder Amdy Faye on a season-long loan.

The 30-year-old completed his move to the Ibrox club in the early hours of the morning.

He is eligible to play in the Champions League, where Rangers will face Barcelona, Lyon and Stuttgart in the group stage.

Faye joined Charlton last year in a £2million move from Newcastle.

His first taste of British football came when Harry Redknapp signed him for Portsmouth from Auxerre in 2003.

The powerful midfielder was also part of the Senegal World Cup squad a year earlier.

Faye becomes the latest summer signing to check in at Ibrox, as Rangers attempt to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

They sit top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with a 100% record and booked their place in the Champions League proper with a 1-0 aggregate win over Red Star Belgrade midweek.
