Hi! I’m currently deciding on having a granny flat built in our garden (it’s been unused for years!). I’ve decided to let my folks live with us rather than send them to a nursing home. It’d be easier for me to check up on them and they’d get to see their grandkids all the time too. However, I was thinking they’d appreciate having their own private space and a granny flat is just the thing for them! The question is what is the maximum size I can build the granny flat? Is it okay to build a two-storey unit for my folks or will there be issues regarding that?
