Ofcourse he should know what stimulates him to do it(internet, Tv, sexual talks, sexual magazines etc), He has to cut himself off from it.

The point is masturbation has now become a habit for him, and now it has to be unlearned thesame way it was learned and this will take time.

He should also avoid staying in his room alone too often.

He should get busy with different activities, that way he won't leave his mind open for the thought of masturbating to come to his mind.

Ultimately, he has to make up his mind and decide he wants to really stop and commitment to it that will make him stop. Along the way he may fall back to masturbating, he shouldn't be detered, he should just pick himself back up and continue with his plan to stop.

Finally, I'm a christian and I believe in the power of the supernatural, he can pray about it and for me reading the bible will also help him fill his mind with good thoughts.

There is no habit that cannot be unlearned, so he has nothing to worry over, he can get over it and I trust God that he will.
