Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Review by kayultimate(m): 11:43am On Jun 21, 2013
Since the inception of the iPhone, we have seen many competitors come and go. Then when the iPad was released we saw better options pop up shortly after. Now, with the new iPad Mini released you can be sure to see great alternatives that may be a better option. Even though the iPad Mini was not the first for small tablets -- Samsung has had seven-inch tablets for a while, and the Google's Nexus 7 made mini tablets popular when first introduced to the market.
The Note 8.0 comes in riding the coat tails of skyrocketing popularity within the Android tablet world. With Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 replacing its own Galaxy Tab 10 this next series of Note models includes a stylus, for pen-based functionality. The Note 8.0 is one of the first mini tablet to offer this capability.

The potential advantages of the stylus

The addition of the stylus, one would assume, makes the Galaxy Note 8.0 very attractive to business professionals in order to be able to use the mini onscreen keyboard of the tablet. Even though the iPad mini and other mini tablets have been known for their couch friendliness when browsing online or watching media without a stylus, business professionals still appreciate the fact they can easily type in information a bit easier with the stylus. And while the iPad mini offers easy touch typing, there are still noticeably fewer grammatical errors using a stylus.
With that being said, many users seem to have no reason to use the stylus. The main reason seems to be that so few apps use it. For the few apps that do take advantage of the stylus pen, you can instantly see how easy it is to write notes, move elements and type. You can definitely expect the Galaxy Note 8.0 to grow in popularity once more apps are released using the functionality of the stylus pen; It would be very useful for sales and business professionals to have the ability to pen in important notes while on the go. Until that happens, the stylus pen will remain of little use.

The Real Benefit to Owning the Galaxy Note 8.0
If you are in the market for a new mini tablet, there is one good reason to consider owning one: its readability. Samsung has gone ahead and improved the screen interface so that characters appear big and easy to read. Internal apps like S-Planner (Samsung's Calendar replacement) and Email apps are examples of better user interface. In comparison, the iPad Mini's screen is a bit harder read.
