Over the weekend, I went to my family house somewhere on the mainland, the journey was hectic, It took me about a total of 6hrs on the road to and fro because of the traffic caused by road constructions.

That day I wished our house was movable so that I could just move it down to the Island, this got me thinking about movable houses. I know that in the western world houses are not built by blocks only, they build with other materials such as wood, steel etc

In Nigeria houses are popularly built with blocks making it fixed and permanent.

Prefabricated homes, often referred to as prefab homes, are specialist dwelling types which are manufactured off-site in advance, usually in standard sections that can be easily shipped and assembled. Some current prefab home designs include architectural details inspired by futurist architecture.

Prefabricated may refer to buildings built in components e.g. panels, modules (modular homes) or transportable sections (manufactured homes), and may also be used to refer to houses on wheels (mobile homes).

Although similar, the methods and design of the three vary wildly.

Modular homes are created in sections, and then transported to the home site for construction and installation, they are usually the most expensive of the three. Although the sections of the house are prefabricated and put together at the construction much like a typical home.
Manufactured homes are built onto steel beams, and are transported in complete sections to the home site, where they are assembled.
Mobile homes are built on wheels that can be moved.
