I have to drop by & comment on this very topic cause it affects me. After seeing the admission status For now I think we are left with two options. 1) learning a handwork 2) or securing a short-term job pending resumption date e.g factory worker.
In decision making, you'll have to put down some factors and probably ask yourself some questions e.g
what business or short-term work can i venture into? -maybe factory worker, petrol attendance, sales girl & so on.
How will it fetch me enough money to be independent during 1st year at school? - have it in mind that those works are not that paying much. Maybe 5-10k monthly depending on what's involved.
Will this short-term work continue after the resumption date or will it be eternal?- NO! of course, unless you enrolled for part-time. The money you earned from all this may be gigantic but will surely paralyze in no time unless you invest in it.
But, if you venture into learning handwork or making use of your talents, you are to ask yourself some questions e.g
what can i learn and comprehend in a short period?(you already mentioned some)
Is the economy in need of my products? - this you have to consider; since you already gained admission you know in the next few months you'll be changing your economy(environment) & you know on campus the students are of thousands and they demand alot such as; photographer, hair dresser, fashion designers & so on. Wondering why i mentioned those works? It's because the campus' students are in need of those services.
Will it be eternal?- yes, as long as you want it, it'll even sustain you pending the time you secure a job after graduation. I would have wished to go on and on but no time, & as for me i think i'll just stick to fashion designing cause i already know how to do few things on the machine but i'm still a learner though. Hope you find this helpful, it's not a professional advice but it may go a long way. My word for you is to discover yourself and learn to SAVE. Aluta continua......success is certain!
