JOB DESCRIPTION OF A HYBRID ENGINEER

- Performing modeling and simulation to steer design decisions,

- Building of subsystems involving electric motors/controllers, automotive hybrid batteries, computer control systems, wiring, telematics systems, and displays, and

- Devising and building bench test fixtures in order to validate/debug components and subsystems to

- Ensure reliable in-field operations and serviceability.

- Participate in technical outreach and interactions with electrical component suppliers – including automotive battery companies (if qualified for this) – and testing vendors.

- For all testing-related activity, you will be asked to draft test plans, carry out experiments, collect and analyze data, and report findings to the team.

Required Skills:

- 3+ years working with electro-mechanical systems

- Hands on experience with electronic test equipment

- Experience developing tests and fixtures and executing them on the bench

- Demonstrate experience analyzing test results leading to design improvements

- Experience with Matlab, Simulink, LabView or similar software

Preferred Skills:

- Experience working in high voltage and high current electrical environments

- Knowledge of automotive engineering, specifically hybrid automotive engineering

- Knowledge of electric motors, gearing and clutches

- Knowledge of automotive battery technologies (including Li-Ion)

- Familiarity CAN bus communication buswith Knowledge of vehicle telematics systems systems

- Proficiency in mechanical design and CAD programs (ideally Solid works)

- Automotive regulatory compliance and testing (SAE, FMVSS, etc) experience

- Interest/experience in computer science and/or software development

- Familiarity with Hardware In the Loop (HIL) methodologies

- Design for Six Sigma Exposure

- Design of Experiments Exposure

Education: relevant Minimum BS Electrical Engineering with additional experience
