berem: Anencephaly is a condition that prevents the normal
development of the brain and the bones of the skull. This
condition results when a structure called the neural tube
fails to close during the first few weeks of embryonic
development. The neural tube is a layer of cells that
ultimately develops into the brain and spinal cord. Because
anencephaly is caused by abnormalities of the neural tube, it
is classified as a neural tube defect (NTD).
If the neural tube fails to close properly, the developing
brain and spinal cord are exposed to the amniotic fluid that
surrounds the fetus. This exposure causes the nervous
system tissue to break down (degenerate). As a result, people
with anencephaly are missing large parts of the brain called
the cerebrum and cerebellum. These brain regions are
necessary for thinking, hearing, vision, emotion, and
coordinating movement. The bones of the skull are also
missing or incompletely formed.
Almost all babies with anencephaly die before birth or within
a few hours or days after birth.

Every good gift come from the Lord. God does not give gift that will make us sad. The Bible says( the blessings of the lord it maketh rich and addeth no sorrow) it is high time we seek the Lord.

Re: Woman Delivers Baby With Anencephaly In Kaduna by Nobody: 12:25pm On Jul 11, 2013
Can only imagine how people would have been shouting all manner of spiritual incantations at the site of delivery. They even had to term it "half human, half animal". Ignorance is bliss indeed.

eaglechild: If proper antenatal care was given to the mother, the diagnosis would have been made in utero by routine obstetric ultrasound scan.
not all Africans have D money to scan. Thats a whole lot of money for a fulani(probably nt educated will spend to scan) she migt nt have being using D hospital before. It all bothers than to D unequal gap between D have/ havenot. Forget those dispensary stores called PHC. U will be aiding death if u are really sick to go there 4 treatment.

End time ke?. The rate of ignorance on this forum is appalling. This baby resulted from the mother not taking folic acid supplements and you are crying endtime.

If you are still in your reproductive age, or you plan on having children soon, start taking folic acid.
