A couple of times I've been in need of smaller denominations of a single large naira notes such as N1000, N500 or even N200, and when I walk up to a street vendor or petty trader for aids with smaller denominations of those notes without neccessarily wanting to buy something with it, the response I always get from 95% of them is "No, I don't have change", most annoying, it is said in a rather rude manner. But the unvarnished truth is, they actually have those smaller denominations.

Are they people in the house who can give a good explanation of this act, why wouldn't they assist you with those smaller denominations and rather lied that they didn't have it?

you wan spoil their market, if dem give you all their change wetin dem go use sell market. Abi na we sey make you spend all your change - knowing fully well that you will be needing it.

Infact, I don vex for the matter, all the change wey dey your hand you dey always spend am carelessly on gala, fibre active, groundnut, etc.. when he come reach to enter transport, or do something serious with your money - you go come dey form sey change no dey.

Its been part of them,the reason they kept to themselves some would not just want to give you even though they have it

If u wan mak de giv u change, always tel dem 2 colect interest 4 d change. E go work sharp sharp.

If they use up their smaller denominations it will be dificult for them to make sales when customers come with higher denominations. And sincerely, they are scarce sometimes because people use ATM more, and it does not dispense smaler denominsations.

I once worked at a filling station and I can tell you that small change is scarce. Besides, the change are usually needed for business as no one wants to be stranded when they need it for customers. Finally, some people change fake money. Someone once attempted to change fake money from me @ the filling station back then, so some of them might simply been taking precautions.

This happens in Ibadan...all d time....they sometimes don't even care if u buy Smthin or u enter their cabs
