The perils of making call while driving. RIP to the baby girl.

In a freak accident, a Nigerian bus driver said to be using his cell phone, lost control of the vehicle which hit and knocked over a lamp post that fell on and killed an 8 month old baby girl.

The driver, Idowu Daramola, 48, was driving in West New York, New Jersey, on Tuesday afternoon when the tragic incident occured. He was charged with reckless driving, using a cellphone while driving and death by auto.

Authorities in West New York said the bus crashed into a lamppost, which fell onto a baby stroller. The bus then hit a tree, another lamppost and a parked car, which struck three other parked vehicles.

Officer Michael Stetson says he found the infant, Angela Paredes, bleeding from the head and not breathing. She died on the way to a hospital. Seven other people were hurt in the incident.

The bus was reportedly operated by Sphinx Transportation, which provides shuttle service between New Jersey and New York City. The company has not commented on the accident.

"I heard a loud crash and people screaming," said Iris Pizarro, who lives in an apartment building across the street. "That's when I ran to the window and saw the mother over the baby screaming, "My daughter! My baby!"

Daramola, who resides in Thornwood, NY, could face 10 years in prison if convicted of all the charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday and is being held on $250,000 bail.

It is not uncommon to see shuttle drivers, mostly immigrants, talking on cellphones as they drive although it has been a violation of state law since 2007. It was not known at press time whether Daramola was texting or talking on his cell when the tragedy occured.

An accident, is an accident! It is unplanned, it is unintentional! Any one person is prune to accident. It is so much different from terrorism and it is not terrorism.

IDOWU DARAMOLA is very well known to me as a gentleman, struggling to fend for his family in every legal way. I can vouch for him on that.
He is indeed a Nigerian immigrant, but not one who would be so desperate to take a life for any course.

My prayer goes to the 8month-old baby's family that God will comfort them at this time. But, this family will agree with me that Idowu did not hit their child directly or intentionally.

It was a case of ''being in the wrong place at the wrong time''

My plea though, is that Nigerians and every good people from all around the world would stand up for this one guy who is 'not a Terrorist' but an ACCIDENT Victim himself.

As at this minute, it is unclear if indeed, Idowu was using his cell phone while driving, even though he is being charged with that. How do you charge someone with unconfirmed charges?

I also wander why;
1. his Employers have refused to get him a Lawyer? (For him and for themselves)
2. the State has refused to employ a Lawyer to look deeply into the case?
3. slam a $250,000 bail o a struggling Employee.
4. vicarious liability does not apply in the United States? An Employee is a Representative of his Employer! That means that his Employer should be charged along or alone!
5. is there something wrong with the bus pedals? Did something go wrong mechanically with the bus? How would anyone hit so many objects if something didn't go wrong? After all, he was not speeding!

This guy has submitted himself to all tests including smoking drinking and use of drugs. HE WAS FOUND TO BE CLEAN!

Please, please, please STAND UP FOR IDOWU DArAMOLA! This one was an ACCIDENT! Obviously, an accident!
