Eyeliners: The Pros & Cons by Nma28(f): 8:13pm On Aug 01, 2013
There are different 3 basic types of eyeliners: cream, gel, and liquid. They all serve different purposes, do different things, and have different textures. Often times makeup lovers are not too sure which to use for a specific function or task. It is great to have one of these, it’s even better to know what you should be using them for.
Here's a breakdown of what each of their Pros and Cons are:

Gel Eyeliner
Pros...

Thicker shapes. Using gel on an angled brush is great for thicker and more defined shapes
Use as an eye shadow base. Rather than drawing with any type of eye liner on your lid as a base for shadow, gel is much more convenient.
Intense waterlines. If you want a very intense waterline, gel liner is best as it gives the proper pigmentation and density required.
Brows: If you want a super natural shaped brow, or your brow is very thin, use gel liner similar to the shade of your brows. This gives a very sharp and strong effect.
Gel liner has Smudge-ability which makes it easy to create a smouldering eye effect.

Cons...
· Gel liner won’t help if you plan to have a precise detail work that isn't a straight or angular line. This is due to its thickness and consistency.

If you don't put gel liner on the waterline, the creamier texture will get stuck on your lower lashes.

Pencil Eye Liners:

Pros...
· The pencil liner is excellent for defining the waterline in a conventional way.

Light smudging. Pencil liner is best for slight smudged look.
Lining the lash line. Should you require to line beneath the eye rather than the waterline, pencil will give you a smoother look.
Pencil liner is best for more natural look.

Cons...

Doing a designed liner is really hard because of its soft and thicker tip.
Intense looks. Pencil doesn't tend to have the opacity for intense looks.

Liquid Eyeliner:

Pros...

Liquid eyeliner has fine tipped applicators which are really great for getting a sharp line definition.
To achieve the unconventional shape, liquid eyeliner is best for this application.
Filling in small gaps. If you've applied false lashes and noticed that you can see the band, the fine tip of a liquid liner can be pushed into those gaps to fill them.
Liquid eyeliner holds glitter and glossy texture the best for your more creative ventures.

Cons...

It becomes so mess when properly lined.
Large concentrations of liquid liner will flake off very easily.
Once is dried, is like paint and difficult to smudge or blend.
Liquid liner cannot be applied softly due to its nature.

Which do you prefer?
