Manchester United are considering making a bid for Real Madrid midfielder, Mesut Ozil.

Punto Pelota reports that United are willing to offer £40 million for the Germany international and believe a deal can be reached.

Ozil's father and agent has been pushing to open new contract talks with Real Madrid this summer but there are concerns from the German that he is being squeezed out of first team reckoning.

The promotion of summer signings, Casemiro, Isco and Asier Illarremendi has cast doubt on the futures of several senior Real midfielders, including Ozil and Xabi Alonso.

After failing in their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, the Premier League champions remain in the market for a new creative midfielder and intend to test Madrid's resolve with a bumper offer for Ozil before the transfer deadline closes.
