"It does not take a rocket scientist to recognize that
Igbos want to be seen as a special breed of
humanity; they would like you to tell them that they
are God’s special creation and that they are superior
to other people, superior to Hausas, Yorubas, Edos,
indeed, superior to white folks, Asian folks, to all human beings. If you gratify that desire of theirs they feel okay but if
they feel that you do not collude with them and see
them as they want to be seen they feel angry at you;
they would launch an unending war with you with
the purpose of making you change your mind so
that eventually you come to see them as they want to be seen: a special breed of humanity, a superior race
of people. (One way some of them now seek
specialness is to claim to be related to that other
misguided group, Jews, who claim to be the special
children of God. Igbos are not Jews; they are
Africans; they are part of the Niger-Congo language group.) Igbos problems with their Nigerian neighbors are
rooted in their struggle to be seen by their neighbors
as a special people, as a superior people. They try to
bamboozle people into accepting their exalted self-
appraisal. If you allow yourself to be hoodwinked by
them and see them as they want to be seen, go into cahoots with them and see them as special, they see
you as friend but the moment you change your mind
and see them as just ordinary human being (which
they are) they see you as an enemy and start
attacking you with their rusted swords and Igbo
English."

The writer did well but he did not touch some important issues.

I am glad people are beginning to see what they are supposed to see.
