I was with a senior BlackBerry official and in the course of our discussion I asked about their plans for BBM apps on Android and iOS. He said not nothing has been made official but target date is 27th of September.

I have a suspicion that the networks may create BBM only plans since MTN has Twitter only plans. What will make or break this is pricing. The Twitter only plan is N60 per month. My projected range for BBM plans is between N60 - N200 per month, anything higher is gonna be pushing it.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Bbm for android will only reduce the use of blackberry, but cannot totally end the use of blackberry.

I think a lot of people will warm up to this app from the word GO, and could give Blackberry (Pls, RIM no longer exists!) new momentum in the market. The revenue figure from Whatsapp shows that Blackberry will make lotta money from this important move they're making. The next step, in my opinion, is to slash their Blackberry phone prices.

I planned selling my Blackberry as soon as BBM is released to Android and iOS devices since I use an iPhone 4s. But then something happened last week that made me change my mind.

Before now I used to buy 1.5GB etisalat data at N4,000 on my iPhone. I use it for less than 3 weeks. I also do N1,500 MTN BIS on my Bold 5. That's about N6,000 every month.
But last week, based on someone's prompting, i switched to Etisalat BIS on my BB. I did N1,000 BBC and it comes with 3GB. Now I set up the Bold 5 hotspot feature and connect my iPhone and sometimes laptop to it, all for N1,000. It makes so much sense that I wonder what I'd been thinking all these months.

I think people should try that out too. I hear Airtel BIS also works well that way. I couldn't use the hotspot service with my MTN BIS because even though I can connect my iPhone to it, i could do absolutey nothing with the connection. I couldn't even google!
