KNOW YOUR MOBILE – Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 3 and a GEAR smartwatch at IFA in Berlin on September 4, reports suggest.

Asian website Asiae.co uncovered the leak that claims both the Galaxy Note 3 and its accessory will be coming at the same Samsung Unpacked event on the eve of IFA.

The roughly translated text says, ‘According to industry sources, Samsung Electronics event is coming September 4 (local time) in the evening in Berlin, Germany to launch the Galaxy Note 3 at Samsung mobile unpacked event.

‘With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung will launch other types of smart devices. Manufacturers like Apple, LG, Google and all the other major manufacturers are looking at these smart products. Watches for phones launched several years ago and recently, the Sony Smart Watch 2 was launched.’

Apple is said to be working on an iWatch concept and although Sony’s SmartWatch 2 has now been delayed for release until September, analysts at Canalys think there will be a boom in smart watches over the next six months.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is said to feature a 5.7-inch AMOLED display, 3GB RAM and a 13-megapixel camera.

However, other recent rumours suggest the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 could launch in three sizes, like the Samsung Galaxy Mega.

An LTE-Advanced version is expected to be announced with a Snapdragon 800 processor for the South Korean market, while in the UK, it’s expected to feature a Snapdragon 600 processor like the Samsung Galaxy S4.

We’re hoping the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will launch on Android 4.3, although judging by Motorola’s recent Moto X launch that launched on Android 4.2.2, it would seem that manufacturers have not yet finished testing the update.

IFA takes place in Berlin, Germany September 6-11.
