ARTICLE: Olamide A Manageable Replica Of Late Dagrin? by Nobody: 4:36am On Sep 09, 2013
First of all, the rave of the moment; Olamide a
rapper who was introduced to the Nigerian music
scene with his debut single "Eni duro" in 2010
after which his first album titled "Rhapsody" was
released, the album did well in the market. Since
then he kept to consistency for music lovers by
dropping hits or getting featured one at a time,
until November 2012 when again released his
second album titled "YBNL" which pinned the
name "Baddo" on him, the album "YBNL" was a
better success in terms of acceptability, massive
airplay and more.

If I die, not yet don't think it. The late Dagrin a.k.a
"Chief Executive Omo-Ita" was also an indigenous
rapper who died days after an accident in his two
weeks old car, in 2010; he had two rap albums to
his credit, the first was fantastic but didn't do well
"market-wise" and the second album in 2010
titled "Chief Executive Omo-Ita" was tagged one
of the most successful rap albums in Nigeria. His
vocal delivery and attitude tells incredible joviality,
"His gimmick laughter on song according to
him, means is mocking the beat and no beat he
get to listen to that he cant flow on". Most
surprising is that even after death Dagrin has
loyalists(fans) still mumble and feel his absence;
with different anniversary parties in different
locations. could he be "Fela the II"? Pardon my
manners, my sense of hyper comparison leaked. I
personally know Dagrin as far back as 2004, so I
can testify that he's been around from times past
before he made it to the limelight in 2008 till 2011
(R.I.P Grin Baba).

Here is the gist; after atonement of one paragraph
each for the Yoruba rap gods.
Two successful albums each, two indigenous
Yoruba rappers. It however was a cause of
concern to hear from over different persons which
includes showbiz experts, critics in different
locations in Nigeria with a strong believe THAT…
"If Dagrin were to be ALIVE, Olamide wouldn't have
gotten the attention he's getting now". Some went
as far as referring to Olamide that he's "AT LEAST
A MANAGEABLE REPLICA OF DAGRIN" egbami I said
to myself. The funniest is that people who don't
understand ordinary come & go in Yoruba
language, insists Dagrin is the real deal, compared
to what they describe as noise. Does it look like
am talking in parables, let me say it in simple
straight english; Most people believe, that Late
Dagrin is a better rapper and is preferrable, over
Olamide. I go NO further on this, I see Ghetto
dreams coming alive. I know you also have your
wondeful say to the above. What's your take?
