It wasn’t long before the song became an anthem of sorts throughout the country, He followed this up with other successful tracks, most of which he recorded along with other artistes of the MO Hits Allstars. It was a move that would eventually turn out to be a wise decision as he catapulted himself to the apex of the Nigerian music industry.

7. P-Square
They are the most popular music acts based in Nigeria. The duo, composed of twins Peter and Paul Okoye, and managed by elder brother Jude “Engees” Okoye, are household names in Nigeria. The list is not only about R&B and hiphop stars. Musicians from all genres were considered. Yes, Sunny Ade was popular way back, but how many people outside Nigeria know him now? The list was compiled based on how popular these musicians are now. You may argue that Sade Adu is also there, but a lot of people, especially in the UK and Europe still remember and know her very well.

Thanks. Most people, even Nigerians, don't know that they are from here. But I'm sure that they themselves know and come back home once in a while.

OP where did you put Chiddy Bang? Incase you don't know, he still holds the Guinness world record for the longest freestyle ever. What about Lemar Obika? He's a top UK soul singer with hit records like "Time To Grow" etc.

Lemar Obika is not very popular even in the UK. He was considered along with some other international acts of Nigerian parentage, but was not included in the list. As for Chiddy Bang, he might have made it if the list was extended to 20.

How did you number it? Is it in terms of popularity or who you feel is popular?

Sade is definitely the most popular and Wale should be next.

Tinie Tempah is only popular in the UK and Europe.

I don't know what Cham is doing on the list, he's irrelevant outside Houston.

And nobody knows Tuface! undecided
