WHY DID JESUS CURSE AN INNOCENT FIG TREE? . Jesus, in the Synoptic Gospels, went to a fig tree looking for food to eat because he was severely famished (Matthew 21:18-22; Mark 11:12-14, 20-21). When he saw that there were no figs on the tree he cursed it. Why? Was he the owner of the tree or the person who planted it? Did HE has traditional, legal and ownership right to curse a tree to death? The fact with this story is that it wasn’t the season for this tree to produce figs according to Mark 11:13! It was in March. . If Jesus is God why didn’t he know that it wasn’t the season for figs and why did he expect fruit when it's not the time and season? . And why would he curse the tree when it wasn’t its fault that it wasn’t fig season? . Could this act of cursing a tree not be termed as wickedness, calousness, irritation, unforgiveness and sin? . Could this act not be the reason for the person who cursed the tree be jailed in HELL? . This calls for crystal justififying explanations. |
