The Dangote Foundation has extended its grassroots poverty alleviation scheme to Adamawa and Yobe States with the disbursement N655 million to 65, 000 vulnerable women and youths in the two states.
The disbursement is a continuation of its award of special grant to states aimed at alleviating poverty by empowering people at the grassroots.
In Adamawa, Dangote Foundation distributed grants amounting to N315 million to women and youths numbering 31, 500 across the 21 local government areas of the state, while 34, 000 people benefitted from the disbursement in Yobe State.
Chairman of the Foundation Aliko Dangote had earlier expressed concern over widespread poverty among the people, especially youths and women at the grassroots and promised that his organization would institute a scheme that would help in addressing the menace.
