Desktop or Laptop? The term good is relative. Depends on what you need it for. Gamers are on the highest end.
What do you primarily do on your computers? Do you need a desktop or a laptop?

Desktop, I already have a monitor.also its not for gaming but for recording studio. I have read aBout many pentium and dual core and I don't really understand their difference. and also the 32bit and 64bit stuff. Really got me confused....I just don't want to buy a cpu that ll mk me run helter skelter.

An pentium IV CPU would satisfy you. You could even upgrade to a dual core depending on your resources.

What u need is called system unit and not cpu. And as regarding which type u need, u shld be more concern abt specification.
A system can have either a 64 bus processor or a 32 bus processor. If all other things are constant a x64 will be faster than x32.
Another thing u need to consider is the processor type, the processor speed and the RAM size
