Out of the bunch there are many footballers that are christains, and though all cannot be mentioned we can do our best to highlight some of the devout, who in some way bear witness in and out of the pitch. Also, who would most likely spend their Sunday mornings in the house of God.

Didier Drogba

Drogba might not seem all virtuous on the football pitch, but he does witness to his faith while playing, both by crossing himself every game and praising God when he scores. And unlike many footballers, he actually puts his money to good use, establishing the Didier Drogba Foundation, which provides education and healthcare support to African children.

Anton Ferdinand

Early in the season, Rio’s younger brother Anton “came out” as a Christian in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. In the interview he tells of his aim to start up a prayer group at his new club QPR, having left an evidently strong community of Christian players behind at his previous club Sunderland.

Javier Hernandez

Nicknamed Chicharito or “little pea”, Manchester United’s Mexican forward Hernandez is a wonderful witness, offering himself completely in prayer on the pitch before every kick-off.

Steven Pienaar

The South African Spurs/Everton player often has a t-shirt underneath his strip proclaiming “God is Great”, which he reveals whenever he scores – most famously in the picture above following his equaliser for Everton at Old Trafford this season. He is also very open about his faith on his twitter account @therealstevenpi

Kaka

The world's second-most expensive footballer is also one of the most religious. Indeed the Brazilian is so pious that he famously took off his shirt to reveal the message 'I belong to Jesus' after AC Milan won the Champions League in 2007. The Real Madrid star, who decided at the age of 12 that "faith decides whether something will happen or not," has donated millions to his Evangelist Church and plans to become a pastor once he retires.

Falcao

Falcao has taken world football by storm lately. Here we not only see Falcao a leader on the pitch, but away from football he is head of a church youth group named Locos por Jesus. The goal-gobbler is a devout Christian.

Park Chu-Young

South Korean star Park Chu-young is known as a devout believer. Living Light News noted: “The striker, who writes ‘Jesus is Christ’ next to his name in autographs to fans, kneels in prayer after scoring. This is a sight which is becoming increasingly common.”

The article quotes an interview with the player from The Guardian: “The first and main reason why I play is to evangelize people. It would make me happy if just one person became interested in Christianity because of me.”

David Luiz
The Chelsea footballer, who has links with Brazilian organisation Athletes for Christ, has never hidden his Christian beliefs and says his faith gives him strength and inspiration. He was famous at his previous club, Benfica, for stickers on a van that he used to drive to training – one saying ‘Christ is life’, and the other ‘God is Faith’ and later on praying for fellow teammate Torres live on TV.

There are so many others, who are also worthy of mention like Tim Howard, Zé Roberto, Mancini, Lúcio, Edmilson, Sylvinho, Bordon, Legrottaglie, Cris, Mertesacker, Boateng, cristianos, Essien, Malouda, Cicinho, Edu, Ceará, Marcos Senna, Daniel Alves, Luis Fabiano, Lee Young Pyo, Adebayor, Kuyt, Gignac, etc

Culled from various articles and blogs.
