Getting up early in the morning to boil water is such a tedious task. What if you could just lie down in bed and have your water boiled at your bidding? This is the concept behind iKettle that’s being called as “the world’s first Wi-Fi kettle”. This kitchen gadget can be controlled using an iOS or Android smartphone as long as the accompanying app is installed. The iKettle uses a Wi-Fi connection to link with your smartphone. You will be able to control it from anywhere in your house whether you are lying in bed or just sitting on the couch. All you need to do is instruct it to boil water from your smartphone and when it is done you will be receiving a notification. There’s even a keep warm feature so the water stays hot. This gadget also has several functions that make boiling water easy. You can set it to remind you every morning if you want to boil water. By answering yes you can just snooze and wait for the notification that the water has already boiled. There are also four different settings you can choose from, each designed for a specific type of beverage. Green tea for example is best served at 80 degrees while coffee is at 90 degrees. The iKettle is a smart gadget that knows when it does not have water. It comes with an auto-shut off feature and boil protection. This means that it won’t turn on unless it has enough water in it. Some of the key features of the iKettle include Control your iKettle via your mobile device Easy one-touch set up Wake up and Welcome home mode/Timer Choose from four temperature settings Keep warm feature Super easy to clean – removable filter and no internal element Auto shut off with boil-dry protection Stainless steel design with soft-touch handle LED backlit control panel Connectivity: Wireless 802.11b/gx, WPA/WPA2, Tablet/iPhone/Android The iKettle can now be pre-ordered for $160.79 and is expected to ship out this November. It comes with a standard 3-pin UK plug so if you want to use this in the U.S. you will be needing an adapter. Wonderful! Will the kettle pour its content into a cup itself, make the exact type of tea i want, and serve me in bed? Then quietly, leave the room, clean the cup without me lifting a finger? iNeed it |

Mehn! This means we are slowly but surely getting closer to a technology that can cook food from start to finish without any aid from humans. When that day comes, what a great day that would be. . God bless the geeks & nerds all over the world toiling to make my life easy |

Emm, but is it not still the owner that will pour water inside the kettle? You'll still have to wake up and put water inside the kettle! So the "tedious" work is not defeated! If only the kettle can produce its own water, then all you just have to do is to put on the kettle! |
