Most new generation churches theme is centred on prosperity, some clergy preached that poverty is a sin. Does this means that poor people cannot be true christians? A pastor quoted a verse from the bible stating that Christ took our poverty away by being poor himself thereby making us rich. Was christ actually referring to material riches or spiritual riches. whats your take on this?

A true Christian may not be aware of his/her blessings in the kingdom or could be lazy (and I know the bible says a lazy man must not eat).

Whereas, some so-called Christians know the Bible from page to page and the blessings attached to most actions and they claim them 'sharperly', while some may just be hardworking but in both cases, their life is far from a holy one.

A true Christian shouldn't be 'poor' (though not necessarily rich but at least comfortable) but due to ignorance, they may be. But being 'rich' is not an evidence of being a TRUE Christian IMO; it's an evidence of knowledge.

Wia did u see that in my post? I only said a True Christian SHOULD NOT be poor (or is poverty a 'thing' of God? ) but due to lack of knowledge, they may be but that doesn't make them less of a Christian so far they are on track with God!

It depend on ur definition of poverty, Joseph was a slave in the house of potipher and yet the bible described him as being prosperous Genesis 38:2!

The apostles were poor.

But prosperity preachers believe Christians cant be poor.
