The Nigerian Football Federation have reported their Ethiopian counterparts to FIFA following some outlandish, and dangerous, tactics aimed at unsettling the team, including an attack on the team bus on Sunday evening.

The Nigerian Football Federation have reported their Ethiopian counterparts to FIFA following some outlandish, and dangerous, tactics aimed at unsettling the team, including an attack on the team bus on Sunday evening.

The Super Eagles carved out a 2-1 win over the Walia Antelopes in Addis Ababa on Sunday afternoon in the first leg of their 2014 World Cup qualifying play-off, leaving them on the verge of earning a ticket to Brazil.

However, the Nigerians reportedly had to endure some incredulous behaviour from Ethiopia before and after the encounter, with the hosts believed to have sent a cockroach-infested bus to pick the team up from the airport, while their police escort guided them through intense traffic jams when alternate routes were believed to have been free from congestion.

However, the unsettling tactics turned ugly after the game as Nigerian players and fans inside the stadium were pelted with soft drink bottles, while Ethiopian supporters were then believed to have stoned the Super Eagles bus during its departure, with the rear windscreen being shattered by a large rock, resulting in Nosa Igiebor receiving a deep gash on his hand and needing immediate medical attention.

NFF vice president Chief Mike Umeh has since contacted world football's governing body with an official complaint, and hopes the incidents can be reviewed before the return fixture in Calabar on October 17.
