So here's what's new. Greek gods are out, African gods are in. I am a strong believer in the one true God but I also appreciate art and creativity. It's cool to see these deities as people. Imagine if a Hollywood movie was made about this Gods?

The first set of ibeji(the guy(s)) is/are dayuuuummm And isn't eledumare and Olorun supposed to be the same person. Oba is very pretty too.. How come you haven't got representations of Oduduwa,Oranmiyan,Ogun etc Nice concept. |

I am speechless! Those are fantastic and kudos to the artist(s) - that's real, raw talent. I liked them all except Erinle - the African God of well being. That yellow pant of his is very un-African. |

Really nice pix and commendations to the producers and organizers but its all yoruba/Edo gods and goddesses. That means Nigerian, cos Africa happens to be continent, I dont see gods from cameroon, South africa, kenya and other african countries. If we decide to bring home, i also don't see gods from hausa and igbo and there are really many of them. Still nice compilation but really misleading information. 3 Likes |

One can't deny the art in this. But yeah that yellow 'pant' diminishes the authenticity of the character, lol. I think Sango would look more in character in a braided hairstyle. And they should have been specified instead of just throwing it into a huge bracket as African. Greek gods are specifically called Greek gods, not European gods. But good effort overall. 3 Likes |

Good compilation, though i have 2 observations..... 1. Those artistics works are yoruba gods and goddesses, not representing the africa gods. 2. This thread is better put/placed in culture section than family section, because i dont see how this is family oriented. My opinion anyway. Thanks. |

I stand to be corrected. The Yoruba has no representation for Olorun. Or is Olorun different from Olodumare? Good job, anyway. Great to see the gods in flesh. |

These are Yoruba/Edo gods, however due to the fact that the Oodua people have preserved their religion better than other African groups, this religion is the one that best represents Africa in the world view. Olorun is same as Olodumare, he shouldn't be represented there. For more on this religion check this thread. www.nairaland.com/1463158/aborisa-yoruba-religion 2 Likes 1 Share |
